road trip!

This weekend, Emily, Margeaux and myself decided to take a little road trip. It was a weird time because it was right before the super bowl, but we thought it would be nice to get out of town before the madness began. We drove to Sewanee, Tennessee. Random? Yes. We each have friends that attend the tiny university of Sewanee, the University of the South, which by the way is smaller than my high school. It was an awesome time, but it makes me really appreciate living in a culture rich city like New Orleans. Sewanee consisted of all the same types of people, wearing the same clothes, doing the same thing EVERY NIGHT, frat parties WOOOOHOOO (sarcasm). Sewanee was beautiful and perched upon a mountain (Margeaux has pictures she will upload) but it was freezing (again making me love NOLA that much more) and it snowed! The weekend was awesome, and the drive (6 hours or so) was fun too! It was really cool to venture across the south via car, we ran across plenty of interesting characters. Margeaux had never been to Waffle House, so we made a stop there before heading back to New Orleans to watch the Saints dominate! I am an avid fan of Q’doba, and obviously there is not one here so we made it a point to find one before returning. We finally found one in Hattiesburg, MS and it was well worth the search. (as you may be able to see and remember, I am in love with food). The road trip was everything I expected it to be, and I hope to do another one very soon, it truly made me realize how fortunate I am to be residing in such a diverse, culturally rich city.
