Mardi Gras is the shiznit

First off, Mardi Gras is a New Orleans tradition. I'm pretty sure I associated this place with Mardi Gras even before I could locate it on a map. Sure its become highly commercialized and famous for the amount of alcohol that gets consumed in its celebration, but that is not the only aspect of the tradition. If you look at the floats and the costumes and the decorations that pop up here every february, it becomes clear that Mardi Gras is also a time when creativity and artistic vigor thrive in the city of New Orleans. The next time you see a float, imagine how much planning and designing and collaboration went into even the first draft of its blueprint. Then think of how long it took to add so many ornate designs and colors on the final product. Mardi Gras is an expression of New Orleans culture through art and community....And its cool to get a litle buzzed too. Nuff Said
