Mardi Gras = $$$
New Orleans is a city that relies heavily on tourism. People from all around the world come to New Orleans to spend their money on hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, and markets; all of which are taxed. New Orleans’s biggest holiday is Mardi Gras. And Mardi Gras brings more tourists and their cash to the city than any other week of the year. During the weeks of Mardi Gras, New Orleans experiences a direct economic impact of about $150 million. From groceries to beads, both tourists and New Orleanians end up giving the city quite a lot of money. Without Mardi Gras, New Orleans would not be as financially sound as it is.

While you are undoubtly correct in arguing that Mardi Gras does have a very important economic impact on the city (please try to cite your sources), however, I would like you to say a bit more about this. Try to find local business owners, politicians, and tourist bureaus to supoprt your agrument!
