Mardi Gras Mambo

The importance of Mardi Gras really depends on your age, in my opinion. I have only been to a few Mardi Gras, my last one being the one right after Katrina. For me, Mardi Gras was always about getting to see and spend time with my relatives. Uptown Mardi Gras is definitely more of a family-oriented party. Now, from high-school age (locals, at least) college age, to basically anyone who doesn't have to watch over children, Mardi Gras is a nice excuse to get wasted. Either way, Mardi Gras is a great stress-reliever that brings families and a great city closer together (inebriated or not.)
