Mardi Gras?
Growing up in Houston, I always experienced the "watered down" version of Mardi Gras. There were beads, but no sense of real authentic "Mardi Grasism." I'm excited to see what the real Mardi Gras experience is like. Talking about Mardi Gras in Creole Crossroads, you can tell there is a care-free atmosphere that fills the entire city. I wanted to know more about the history of Mardi Gras and why it matters. Mardi Gras begins on the Epiphany and ends the day before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday," in response to the amount of food eaten before the fast. Other countries have a Carnival similar to Mardi Gras, but nothing compares to the festivities that take place in the city of New Orleans. So bring on the music, the floats, the mask, and the Mardi Gras Indians.
